Biography

I am a human geographer who is interested in environmental issues as they intersect with culture, social relations, politics and community development.  I have a PhD from Clark University and received a Fulbright award for my fieldwork, in addition to a Rockefeller award for post-doctoral work at the Center for International Forestry Research. I have worked in various countries in Africa and Asia, as well as with Native American tribal nations in the United States.  I teach Global Development Theory II and Development on Ground each year to GDS students, as well as a variety of other courses, including Science, Technology, and Development and Culture, Commerce, and Travel.  I am also responsible for helping students arrange for out-of-the-university learning experiences with a variety of local, national and international partners.
