Marcel Durieux, MD PhD, is emeritus professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He has been involved in global health work in East Africa for more than 15 years, providing medical education in Tanzania, Malawi and Rwanda. For about a decade he oversaw UVA student travel to Rwanda through the Center for Global Health Equity. He also did two missions with Doctors Without Borders in the Central African Republic.
