The German Association for American Studies has awarded Prof. Laura Goldblatt and Prof. Richard Handler's article "Pray for Peace but Fight Your Insect Enemies: U.S. Postal Messaging and Cold War Propaganda" for the best article in 2020. According to the General Editors of Amerikastudien, "the criteria for the selection are: excellence of research and scholarly quality, a convincing argument, the significance of the contribution to the field, the orignality of the approach (raising new questions, discovering new texts, employing new methodologies), and excellence of writing". An official award ceremony will take place during the annual meeting of the German Association for American Studies in 2022.
